A Simple Analogy

The following analogy occurred to me last night:

OSU Buckeyes : PSU Nittany Lions :: John McCain : Barack Obama

Right or wrong, here's why I think that...
  1. Obviously, the Buckeyes lost to Penn State, just like McCain did to Obama.
  2. In both cases, I found myself rooting for a particular team/candidate, even though I knew the other one would win.
  3. In both cases, I was let down, but not crushed at the outcome.  Why? Because I think Joe Pa deserved a winning season, and I think that Obama and the democrats deserve a chance to run this country.  Worst case scenario: things get even worse and the Dems get the boot next time around. Best case scenario: the country is unified under a strong leader that a majority of the population believes in.
  4. Although this will probably be heavily disagreed with, I think the stronger team/leader won in both cases.
  5. The Nittany Lions played a near perfect (penalty-free) football game, and Obama had a near perfect campaign.  Just like the Buckeyes had a couple of penalties that probably cost them the game, John McCain made enough little mistakes to cost him the election.
  6. And finally: Buckeye colors, Scarlet & Gray.  Nittany Lions: blue.  Coincidence, I think not.
I could probably think of more, but I've already wasted enough time on this.  Please feel free to let me know how big of an idiot I am.

Are you serious?

It is one thing that Obama is simply a socialist.

1. So he will raise corporate taxes, which are already second highest in the world and more jobs will go oversea. He will tax the rich, who will simply relocate to tax friendlier countries and keep a “vacation home” in the US in which they will “vacation” for 11 months out of the year.

2. So he will create one trillion dollars in government programs, cut the military budget and withdraw from Irak no matter what.

3. So he will negotiate with the worlds most radical dictators and promote a foreign politics of appeasement to boost our “image” in the world.

4. So illegal aliens will be granted amnesty and they will receive government provided health care.

5. So Liberals just created a filibuster proof super majority or in other words a socialistic democratic dictatorship.

Not that big of a deal, but what about the following points?

1. Obama will most likely appoint up to four new lifetime-appointed Supreme Court Justices. None of them will be Moderates or Conservatives because of a non-existing opposition.

2. Abortion laws will be loosened and “Planed Parenthood” who promotes teenage sex and unlimited Abortion rights will be Government funded. Full term babies, viable to survive outside the mothers whom will be aborted or in other words, hacked to death.

3. Gay marriage will be a none-issue and most likely be legalized nationwide.

4. Christmas, public prayer or for that matter any mentioning of religion will be banned in the name of “freedom of religion”.

5. Obama will under the “fairness rule” ban talk show radio and limit our freedom of speech. Especially if it is of religious nature.

6. Churches will be forced to employ people that don’t share the believes and tenets of that ministry.

So, are you serious?

Adrian just wrote a lot of stuff... but I'm not going to read it. I pretty much agree with you Joe. I probably would have voted McCain, but first African American president is pretty cool.

Joe, there is a great writer in there. You are very astute in your analysis. We need to unite behind this man, pray alot and express our opinions in the various ways that democracy allows.

Hey Amy, I am really curious about your comment, unfortunately it was removed by an administrator. Why don’t you email me personally?

Samuel, how can you dismiss something as “just a lot of stuff” if you don’t actually read it all? Evidently you must have started and then decided you disagree just because it was not a positive response.

Eric, you sound a lot more thought full. I agree that we need to support the President and definitely pray for him…..a lot. And yes, one’s opinion shouldn’t be dismissed just because we don’t like it.

But as Christians we shouldn’t take all this lightly or jokingly. Too much is at stake for our nation and our Christianity. It is our responsibility to fight for those Christian values like the sanctity of life and marriage.

What are you Thinking man??

What I'm thinking is this:

I'm not worried about what will happen over the next four years because...

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Pr 21:1

And, well, I doubt he'll make things worse for Christians than the Roman empire did for the Jews, but even if he does...

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Rom 13:1

Joe,

You endorse Barack Obama, put a blogg out, ask for feedback, and then don’t even respond just because someone disagreed with you on the issues and to top it all off you take the link to your blogg of my homepage.

Joe, this isn’t personally against you. You are a nice guy and I don’t have a problem with you. I am sorry if I have offended you although I am not sure why you are, since I didn’t make any personal remarks. I just disagreed on the issues.

But I do respectfully disagree with your political views and have a hard time lining them up with our faith. When I say our faith, I just assume you believe in the sanctity of life and you believe scripture that says: “God knew us before we were born.”

Just remember tonight when you put your little on to bed, there are 40 million aborted babies that never got the chance to be tucked in by there dad or to fulfill the Will of God for their life.

Thanks for your response, finally. I didn’t read it before I posted my last one.

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Rom 13:1

Submission starts where agreement ends. Yes, we have to submit to the governing authorities and I never said anything different just to be clear!!! But you don’t have to agree with their believes and values, especially if they are not in line with the word of God!!!

Your comparison to the Roman Empire is pointless, since nobody accuses Obama of genocide.

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases." Pr 21:1

If “not being worried” refers to you being in faith and prayer, great. But it seems like you truly think we should just kick back and let the LORD take over.

Just a couple of clarifications...

1. I did not vote for and do not "endorse" Barack Obama. That said, I don't think he's the antichrist either.

2. I didn't erase Amy's comment, she rescinded it herself. She's too nice.

3. Abortion is already legal, and John McCain wouldn't have been able to change that either. Maybe the solution is to reach the women who are considering abortion with the life-changing message of Christ. Instead of changing the law, let's truly correct the problem and change the people.

That said, I wasn't trying to start WWIII here, just share an analogy that I thought would be humorous and surprisingly applicable.

Anyhow, that's all I have to say about that, and since it's my blog, I get to have the last word.
