A Simple Analogy

The following analogy occurred to me last night:

OSU Buckeyes : PSU Nittany Lions :: John McCain : Barack Obama

Right or wrong, here's why I think that...

Obviously, the Buckeyes lost to Penn State, just like McCain did to Obama.
In both cases, I found myself rooting for a particular team/candidate, even though I knew the other one would win.
In both cases, I was let down, but not crushed at the outcome. Why? Because I think Joe Pa deserved a winning season, and I think that Obama and the democrats deserve a chance to run this country. Worst case scenario: things get even worse and the Dems get the boot next time around. Best case scenario: the country is unified under a strong leader that a majority of the population believes in.
Although this will probably be heavily disagreed with, I think the stronger team/leader won in both cases.
The Nittany Lions played a near perfect (penalty-free) football game, and Obama had a near perfect campaign. Just like the Buckeyes had a couple of penalties that probably cost them the game, John McCain made enough little mistakes to cost him the election.
And finally: Buckeye colors, Scarlet & Gray. Nittany Lions: blue. Coincidence, I think not.

I could probably think of more, but I've already wasted enough time on this. Please feel free to let me know how big of an idiot I am.

I decided that Twitter is way more my style than blogging. I don't like to write much anymore, and ranting isn't such a good idea when you work for a church, so I think I'm going to officially stop posting to my blog. Especially since nobody reads it anymore. Not that I blame them, it's totally my fault for not posting on it. Anyhow, if you've subscribed to this in your RSS reader (or have no life and have been visiting my blog every day), you can now follow me on Twitter. I'll be updating that a lot more often. It's way more lazy-friendly, since I can post junk with my iPhone.

But don't worry, I'm not going to take this off the Internets altogether. It's not like I pay anything to host it.

My Baby Boy

Amy and I are proud to welcome our baby boy, Alex David Hohman, into
the world this morning at 10:30 am. We weren't expecting him for two
more weeks, so it was quite a surprise to meet him this morning. Amy
and Alex are both doing great, and Karah is so excited to be a big
sister. Stay on the lookout for Alex's blog (currently in development).

P.S. - Props to my awesome boss for being so flexible with my work
schedule :)

Can anybody tell me what the point of getting an "appointment" with a
doctor is? Generally speaking, when one has an appointment, it means
that a meeting will occur at a specific date and time, with a specific
individual. Not so in the medical world. I've been waiting for 45
minutes at the doctor's office today. That means that not only am I
paying to see the doctor, I'm also losing time that I could be
spending at work, making money. How dare they assume that my time has
no value.

If you're a doctor, take this small piece of advice: schedule your
patients for the time they'll actually get to see you. In the end,
you're still going to see the same number of patients... They'll just
be less angry.
